An Executive Retreat on the Implications of AI
A structured retreat that turned wide-ranging executive discussion into shared, actionable direction.

Context and objective
A high-stakes conversation that had to land
A public innovation authority convened senior leaders to work through the strategic implications of artificial intelligence across sectors. The ambition was high, and so was the risk that a rich conversation would generate energy in the room and then lose it the moment everyone left.
The objective was a retreat that produced direction, not just discussion, a durable synthesis and genuine alignment among senior people. Success looked like a shared conclusion that survived the day and shaped what came next.
Approach and key insights
How the work unfolded
As Project Lead, I designed and ran the retreat end to end, from the framing of the core questions to the final synthesis. I built the structure around a small number of sharp, answerable questions, facilitated the roundtables so a senior, opinionated group could disagree well, and captured the thinking live as it emerged. Working closely with the authority's leadership, I synthesised the discussions into clear themes and implications and played them back to validate and sharpen them.
The insight running through the engagement was that the value of a retreat lives in the synthesis, not the talk. The sharpest implications sat at the intersections between sectors, and a strong frame turned out to be what gives senior people permission to say the difficult thing.
